Just In: Keikei's Coconut Sandals

We are super excited about the announcement of our new product: Keikei’s Coconut Sandals!  These flip-flops are cute, and so perfect for the beach… or a cruise… or a resort… or OK, just about anywhere (anywhere warm, that is)!

These sandals are handmade with real coconuts and other natural materials that evoke thoughts of swaying palm trees, tropical breezes, and sand between your toes.  With a lightweight EVA/rubber sole, they’re well-made and comfortable… and did we mention cute?

Here’s Keikei’s Mother of Pearl Flip-Flop, we carry it in happy Pink, and pretty Turquoise.  How perfect would this be with a tunic and Bermuda shorts.  Add some coordinating jewelry, and BAM – comfy cuteness.

Dainty Heishi Coconut Flip-Flops would be perfect with a sundress.  So take a white dress and add the flip-flops in Pink.  Then drape a resort scarf, like Jasmine by Profile by Gottex, and you have one dreamy outfit.   Wait, the Turquoise Heishi’s would be adorable too... aaah, decisions.

Pukalit in Natural is… well, a natural for pairing with an animal print like leopard.  Adding some gold jewelry will highlight the metallic detail on the sandal.  Another approach: go bright with the clothing!  You can wear most any color, and neutral Pukalit will happily and stylishly join the party.

Keikei’s (pronounced Kay-Kay’s) was founded a couple years ago by Meg and Ryan David.  The designs are influenced by their own adventures abroad, specifically a trip to the Philippines where they first saw coconuts-as-footwear.  And how cute is this: their company is named for their three year old son Kaylor – nicknamed Keikei.

Flip-flops: how do you wear them?

Packing Smart: Roll, Don't Fold

Pack for a tropical vacation at SolEscapes.com

The quandary of packing for a long vacation.  You want to bring a nice variety of gorgeous outfits, but you also don’t want to lug a lot of luggage through the airports.  To fit more in your suitcase, try the classic packing tip: roll, don’t fold.

Clothing that has been rolled up tightly takes up less space than folded items.  The rolled shape is ideal for space filling, so you can use every nook and cranny of your suitcase.  A glorious advantage of rolling is that when carefully rolled, your clothes will have fewer wrinkles; you won’t get the deep creases that are created by folding.  We even hear that rolling is faster than folding!  Rolling goes beyond clothing; there are some sun and beach hats that can be rolled, allowing you to pack a glamorous wide-brimmed hat that you might otherwise leave at home.

If you have an article of clothing that is especially wrinkle-prone, such as a blouse, after packing all other items, sandwich the item between tissue paper, then lay it on top of the other items.

Rolling vs. folding: what’s your experience?
