Here’s a destination that combines fascinating archeology with picture perfect beach Paradise. Tulum holds the ruins of a Mayan temple and city, built in the 15th century at the edge of the cliffs. It may well be the Mayans chose this spot for ease of fortification, but one can easily theorize that the breathtaking view also had something to do with it.
After wandering the ruins, just head down to the beach, where you’ll find sugar white sand and beautiful blue water. Cool off in the sea and bask in the Yucatan sun, enjoying the impressive, historic backdrop.
