Style: Pantone Color of the Year for 2014

Radiant Orchid

Starting 2014 off on a joyous note, Pantone recently announced its color of the year: Radiant Orchid.  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, describes Radiant Orchid as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Radiant Orchid is a color that many can wear, and we think its liveliness makes it just right for your tropical holiday wardrobe.  It complements a variety of skin tones and most any hair color, making it a beautiful choice for a bold lip or nail color.  There are so many ways to add it to your wardrobe, for a warm weather winter getaway and beyond.  When paired with a neutral khaki, radiant orchid shines.  Mix in gold accessories, and you’ve bumped it up to gorgeous.  For a rich, tonal look, combine it with deeper purples, lavender or fuchsia.  Energize classic navy with the lively color.  Go bold by teaming radiant orchid with bright tropical hues such as yellow, turquoise or even orange.  Not a big fan of purple?  Consider using radiant orchid in small doses; accessorizing with a scarf, necklace, bracelet, or hat in the vibrant hue will pep up any outfit.

Global Color Authority Pantone designates a "Color of the Year" each year.  Their choice is influenced by fashion, art, films, travel locales, and celebrities throughout the world.  The influence of Pantone's color selections can be seen in apparel, textile, beauty products, graphic design and beyond.  2013’s selection was rich Emerald green, and for 2012, juicy Tangerine Tango (a reddish orange) was the choice.

How will you wear Radiant Orchid?
