Style: Sun Hats and Pantone® Colors of Fall 2014

“Fall” and “Colors” are two words that go together.  We’re not even talking about the changing leaves of Fall (though those are gorgeous too), we’re talking about Pantone’s picks for 2014 Fall Colors.   Earlier this year, we were introduced to Radiant Orchid, Pantone’s® Color of the Year.  Now Radiant Orchid is joined by 9 other inspiring hues.

But these aren’t necessarily the expected earth tones of Autumn.  Says Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute’s® executive director: “This is a season of untypical colors—more reflective of the imagination and ingenuity, which makes for an artful collection of colors and combinations not bound by the usual hues for fall” (source).

Imagination and ingenuity – what a fun approach to Fall!  Let’s explore the colors of Fall using our favorite accessory – the sun hat!

Starting it off on a warm earthy note is Cognac.  The (brand new!) Cypress fedora wears it well!

Moving on to feisty Aurora Red, it’s Alegra, another happy new addition to our sun hat lineup.

Ravishing Radiant Orchid has never looked better than on a perky Sammy D fedora.

Mauve Mist gives us a mellower purple as seen on charming Brixby.

Warming it all up is Misted Yellow featuring a gorgeous Gottex Audrey.

Aluminum gives us an easy neutral, though Southern Charm would argue that neutral definitely doesn’t mean dull!

Bright Cobalt has a Caribbean feel, and Sanibel, a fun newcomer, is certainly ready for an island holiday!

For a deep blue, look no further than Royal Blue.  For a luxurious visor, look no further than Boracay!

At home in the forest is Cypress.  Wouldn’t Sammy D, in this new green, be perfect for a forest jaunt?

Rounding out our party is Sangria, looking sparkly and ready for fun on Little Cayman (coming soon!).

What’s your favorite color of Fall?  How will you wear it?
